Resurgence Practitioner Network
The Resurgence Practitioner Network (RPN) is a first of its kind cohort, bringing together the vanguard of urban Native K-12 educators. The RPN will work to reimagine urban Native K-12 education into systems that incorporate traditional Native values, knowledge, and pedagogies in order to support the social, emotional, intellectual and academic development of urban Native students.
Formally launching in 2021, the RPN will provide national-level advocacy support for urban Native education. A national advocacy network has never existed for urban Native students. Through alignment with the cohort members, the RPN will advocate for policy change across the United States to benefit urban Native students. This is critical because as the NUIFC demonstrated in its report: “Making the Invisible Visible,” Native people residing in urban areas are amongst the most invisibilized populations in the nation.
The RPN will also serve as an incubator for innovation in Native education. The network will collaborate to develop a wide range of resources and tools to support the continued cultivation of Native educational practices and systems.
The RPN is starting on the journey to building an education system that nurtures and develops urban Native students. Urban Native students deserve an education system that supports them.
